What is the Dina List?

The Dina List is an email listserve.  The purpose of the Dina list is to provide a place for male-to-female and female-to-male transsexuals,who are Orthodox Jews to meet and discuss issues of common interest and experience. The list is also open to transsexuals who used to be Orthodox but aren’t anymore provided that they retain a positive view of Orthodox Judaism. For example, posts dismissing Orthodoxy as “a mere tool of the patriarchy” or “too archaic to be relevant to us” would not be appropriate for this list. While there are people who hold those views and others like them, other lists might be a better place to voice them.

The list will not be archived, but it is recommended that you use an account without your real name on it if you are concerned about the possibility of being outed. Many free e-mail services can be found at http://www.emailaddresses.com.

When you request your subscription you will be provided with a copy of the user policy for the list which you will be expected to abide by.  Additionally, you will be asked to provide a personal profile (which can be anonymous) to be posted to the list.

To subscribe, please send an e-mail to:

majordomo@groups.onlinepolicy.net

with the message:

subscribe dina myname@mydomain.com

using your own e-mail address, of course. If you want to subscribe to the digest version of the list, the message should read:

subscribe dina-digest myname@mydomain.com

The posts you get from the digest list will be full posts, but you will get all the posts from the last day or two in a single e-mail, rather than each post arriving separately. Given the unlikelyness that this is going to be a very large list, there is probably not a lot of point in subscribing to the digest version.

If you ever want to remove yourself from this list, please send a message to:

majordomo@groups.onlinepolicy.net

with the message:

unsubscribe dina

or if you are subscribed to the digest version:

unsubscribe dina-digest

Please do not send these messages to the list, since that won’t work and will only annoy your fellow list members.

If you need help regarding the way the list operates, please do not send your question to the list. Instead, write to:

or directly to the list owner, if you happen to know that address at the time you need the help.

Other than that, we hope that you enjoy the support and community that the Dina list can offer. And if you know anyone else who might fit the list criteria, please feel free to let them know about the list.
